Wasted Woods - 7 DAY RENTAL
1 99 USD

Wasted Woods shows destructive forestry practices used on the west coast during the 1950’s and 1960’s. The film reveals the rapid deterioration of the forest ecology and the disappearance of towns and businesses, along with the forests, in large areas of the west coast. The 1960s witnessed the last days of the giant mills as logging companies denuded much of the western forests and virtually all of the old growth timber still standing at that time. In their quest for profits, big corporations invested in immense machinery and equipment to handle the giant logs, move them to the mill, process them into lumber and then to market. Back on the hillsides, the clear cutting destruction of the forest left vast areas devastated and denuded of the living canopy and rich forest soils that had nourished the region for centuries.
